Comments:
I have this cam in my 1974 T/A 455 Super Duty engine. I am running stock intake, 9.7:1 compression, stock #16 SD heads, re-jetted Rochester carb, stock round port exhaust manifolds, low restriction 2.5 in exhaust and spintech 16 inch long mufflers, 3.42 limited slip, Tremec TKO-600 manual 5 speed and twin disc McLeod clutch. Incredible torque starting at 2200 rpm up to 5500 where I shift. This is the best cam I have ever run in a 455, and I've run 3 others but in flat tappet. It has plenty of vacuum, idles at 750+ rpm, and runs air conditioning on the street. Might be a little hot for a 400 cu in motor, but just right for this 455. Nice sounding lope at idle. Gets loose in first and second gear on throttle tip-in, barks the tires (255/60-R15 BFG T/A) on 3rd and 4th gear shift. Purrs in 5th overdrive on the highway with 14-16 mpg. Highly recommend this or the similar Butler custom grind in a hi-po street 455. Butler has competitive pricing and the best advice. Go roller.
