Description

Butler has had proven results with Comp Cams. These cams are custom grinds that we stock on the shelf. This takes the headache out of trying to get the custom grind for your application. We have spent lots of resources perfecting the components of our proven engines and these cams are the common grinds you will find inside them. We realized that we were asking for the same custom grinds for our applications so we decided to stock what we use.

Great cam for a well-mannered 455

Comments:
The Butler team recommended this cam for my resto-mod rebuild of a 455HO with uncut 197 heads. It provides great results (Their dyno 480HP/530Tq) while maintaining great vacuum for brakes, and communicates well with the EZ EFI fuel injection controller also installed. Great, broad torque curve all the way to 6000 RPM. With my heavy (~4,000 Lb) car, the engine needs at least 1500 - 1700 RPM to pull well in high gear (overdrive), but anywhere above that it will pull most road grades without complaint. My best (rank amateur) 1/4 mile times are right in line with the SD-455 times from back in the day, even through factory exhaust manifolds, full length pipes and crossover muffler. I'm told the results indicate she can dip deeply into the 12s without further changes. We'll see!
