Protect the Paint — Fender Covers for Pontiac V8s
Fender covers are the cheapest insurance in the shop. A dropped socket or a belt buckle against a painted fender costs more to fix than every tool on the bench, and on a finished Pontiac the paint is rarely something you can just touch up.

1. What You Are Actually Buying
A fender cover has two jobs: absorb impact so a dropped tool never reaches the paint, and stay where you put it when the fender is curved and you are reaching across the engine.

All of the Fender Gripper mats share the same construction and the same 34" x 22" size, so this choice comes down to what is on the car.

Wash them instead of replacing them. A mat that has gone slick with oil stops gripping the fender, and that is when it slides off with a wrench on top of it. If the car is going to a show after the work is done, keep one cover for the shop and one clean cover for the trailer.
