Hydraulic Flat Tappet Lifters- These feature a plunger inside the lifter that allows oil to pressurize it. This allows a cushion of sorts that self adjusts and maintains zero lash. It also helps supply oil to the top of the engine. Hydraulic lifters have an increased longevity over solid lifters. The down side of hydraulic lifters is that at high rpm's the lifter gets too much pressure and can cause valve float. We do not recommend these for high rpm applications. Because of changes in today's oils, these require different types of oils or oil additives to reduce premature wear.
