Valve Adjustment — Hydraulic Flat Tappet Sequence
Work one cylinder at a time. Turn the engine over by hand (or bump it with the starter). When the exhaust valve begins to open, stop and adjust the intake valve. Continue turning; when the intake valve has opened and is about ¾ closed, stop and adjust the exhaust valve. Adjust lash by sliding the pushrod up and down between rocker and lifter while slowly tightening the rocker nut. When there is no free play, stop — then turn the nut ½ turn further to preload the lifter.
