Butler Performance has the rings for your Pontiacs. Stock rings came in a thickness of 5/64 5/64 3/16 (455- 5/64 1/16 3/16) while most aftermarket rings are 1/16 1/16 3/16. Drop in rings must be ring gapped appropriately. They may need files slightly to set a proper gap. File fit rings come with .005" extra material for filing to set proper ring gap. For street engines we recommend .016-.018 ring gap. Proper ring gap is crucial to the expansion and contraction of the rings due to heat.
