Edelbrock aluminum heads on a Pontiac V8 take a 14mm gasket seat plug with a 5/8" hex and a 3/4" reach. That long reach is what separates them from both cast iron families, and it is why a plug out of your old iron heads is the wrong part in an aluminum set.
The NGK parts Butler lists against these heads run from a warm resistor plug suited to a mild street combination all the way to the coldest heat range on the Pontiac shelf, in both recessed and extended tip, sold eight to a set.

1. Why These Are Different
Edelbrock aluminum heads borrow one dimension from each iron head family and then change the one that matters most.
| 3/4" reach | Roughly twice the 3/8" reach of the early iron heads and well past the .460" reach of the later ones. A short reach plug in an aluminum head leaves threads exposed in the chamber. |
| 14mm gasket seat | These seal on a crush washer, like the early iron heads and unlike the taper seat plugs the later iron heads use. |
| 5/8" hex | The small hex, same as the later iron heads. |
| Aluminum threads | Take the usual care an aluminum head deserves when you thread a plug in, and get the torque right the first time. |
2. Heat Range and Tip
This group carries the widest heat range spread Butler stocks for a Pontiac, from 5 all the way to 10.
| Heat range 5 and 6 | The BKR-5-E and BKR-6-E, both extended tip. The warmer, street-oriented end of the group. |
| Heat range 7 and 8 | The R5671A and R5672A parts, in recessed and extended tip, for a stronger pump gas combination. |
| Heat range 9 and 10 | The coldest plugs listed here, both recessed tip and both called out for nitrous. They have no business in a naturally aspirated street engine. |
| Resistor type | The BKR-5-E and BKR-6-E are resistor plugs, useful on a car with EFI or other electronics on board. |
3. What Else Changes With Aluminum Heads
The plug is rarely the only thing that changes when the heads do.
