1. How the Service Works
Pick the listing that matches your manifold casting, then choose your head type from the drop-down so the machine knows what port to cut to. Butler can set up shipping to the shop and will even ship you a box to send it in. The shipping charged in the cart covers the return of the intake to you after the port matching is complete.
2. Which Casting Gets Which Port Size
Not every manifold can be opened to every size — there is only so much material in a casting. These are the port size options Butler lists by manifold.

3. Why a Machine Beats a Die Grinder
An intake manifold and a cylinder head are cast separately and never machined to meet each other. Out of the box there is a step, an offset or a size mismatch at the port opening, and it trips the incoming air and fuel right at the doorway to the cylinder — the worst possible place for turbulence.
4. Before You Ship It
| Know your heads | the service is only as good as the information. Out-of-box Edelbrock, Butler 310/315/325 CNC, Butler 340 CNC, Wide Port and your own ported castings are all different cuts. |
| Wide port needs a wide port gasket | if the heads are Butler Wide Port, Victor Pro Port or Kauffman, the opening is relocated and enlarged and requires the matching wide-port intake gasket, not a standard Pontiac one. |
| Clean it | send the manifold clean and bare. Anything still bolted to it slows the job down. |
