6.700" Stroker Length Rods (for 4.000" Stroke )
Pontiac V8 6.700" Stroker Length Rods (for 4.000" Stroke )
Built For The 4.000 Inch Stroke — 6.700" Stroker Length Rods (for 4.000" Stroke ) for Pontiac V8s
6.700" stroker rods are the length Butler pairs with a 4.000" stroke crank. They run the 2.200" big block Chevy rod journal rather than the Pontiac 2.250", which is what lets a modern aftermarket crank use a lighter, stronger rod than the factory ever offered.
Butler stocks Eagle and Scat forged 4340 H-beams, Callies Compstar H-beams with ARP L19 bolts, a Crower Sportsman I-beam, an Oliver billet I-beam and a Molnar power adder rod for boost and nitrous.

More About 6.700" Stroker Length Rods (for 4.000" Stroke )
1. Where this rod length belongs
| 4.000" stroke | This is the length Butler specifies with a 4.000" stroke crank, and it shows up in the Butler 389 and 400 short block kits at that stroke. |
| 2.200" BBC journal | Every rod on this page uses the big block Chevy rod journal, not the 2.250" Pontiac journal. Check what your crank was ground to before ordering. |
| Pin size | .990" bushed full floating on the Callies and Oliver listings, which is the pin the matching pistons need to be ordered for. |
2. Picking between the brands
| Eagle 4340 H-beam | Forged from two-piece 4340 with 7/16" ARP 8740 bolts as standard and ARP 2000 or L19 available, alignment sleeves for cap location and weight matching to plus or minus one gram. |
| Scat Pro Sport H-beam | 4340 forged with ARP 8740 or ARP 2000 bolts and a doweled cap for specific cap to rod alignment. Scat positions the H-beam as its strongest rod, suited to high horsepower, supercharged and nitrous use. |
| Callies Compstar H-beam | ARP L19 bolts as standard, bushed, .990" pins. Torque is 92 ft-lbs with Callies EP #3 lube, or .005 to .006" of stretch. |
| Crower Sportsman I-beam | 4340 forged, made in America, with 7/16" cap screw bolts rated at 180,000 psi and a 70 ft-lb torque spec. |
| Oliver billet I-beam | Machined from E4340 chrome moly billet with L19 rod bolts. |
| Molnar power adder H-beam | Built specifically for high boost supercharged and turbocharged engines and for large amounts of nitrous, with ARP 2000 bolts as standard. |
3. Installing them correctly
Every brand on this page has its own fastener procedure and they are not interchangeable. Callies calls for 92 ft-lbs with its own lube or a .005 to .006" stretch. Crower lists 70 ft-lbs. Molnar rods want 30 ft-lbs plus 65 degrees, or .0070 to .0075" of stretch. Use a rod bolt stretch gauge where the manufacturer specifies one, and use the lubricant the instructions name, because torque values are only meaningful with the friction they were written for.
