Match the Head, Not the Year — Edelbrock Ported/Aftermarket/RAV Intake Gaskets for Pontiac V8s
Once the heads are CNC ported or you are running aftermarket castings, the intake port outgrows every factory gasket. This group matches the gasket to the airflow number of the head, and Butler makes specific recommendations by CFM.
Butler stocks ported Edelbrock gaskets at 1.18" x 2.35" and 1.20" x 2.560", wide port gaskets at 2.48" x 1.48" for RPM Wide Port, Victor and Super Chief heads, a Pro Port Victor gasket at 2.500" x 1.500", and Ram Air V intake gaskets. Several are available in a thin .030" version and a thick .125" version.

1. Ported Edelbrock — order by CFM
Butler recommends these gaskets by the airflow number of the ported head, which is the only sensible way to size them.
| 1.18" x 2.35", large port | Butler recommends this gasket on Edelbrock 310-325 CFM ported heads. Also available in a thin .030" material. |
| 1.18" x 2.35" at .125" thick | the same port outline in a thick version. Butler recommends this one on Edelbrock 315-325 CFM ported heads where extra manifold height is wanted. |

2. Wide port and aftermarket heads
Wide port castings move more than the port — they move the bolt holes, and that catches people out.
| 2.48" x 1.48" wide port | for RPM Wide Port and Victor heads. On this gasket the outer four intake bolt holes are moved outward .500" away from the ports to match BOP, Wenzler, Hogan and similar intakes. |
| The Victor and Northwind caveat | because those bolt holes are relocated, the gasket will need holes punched or cut to match the bolt holes in a Victor or Northwind manifold. Plan for that at assembly. |

3. Ram Air V
RAV is its own world and takes its own gasket.

4. Getting a ported intake joint to seal
With big ports and tall manifolds, the intake joint is doing more work than it does on a stock engine.
| Scribe and check alignment | bolt the gasket to the head dry and look at the port. A gasket hanging into the runner costs flow; a gasket short of the runner exposes an edge to the charge. |
| Watch the manifold height | milled heads and a decked block drop the manifold into the valley and misalign the bolt angles. Thickness is your adjustment. |
If you had your heads flowed, use that number to pick the gasket. If you did not, measure the port opening in the head and buy to the measurement.
