Race Calibration — HP for Pontiac V8s
The Holley HP is where the range stops pretending to be a street carburetor. There is no choke, the calibration is a race calibration, and the tuning hardware — screw-in air bleeds, high flow metering blocks, four-corner idle — is there because you are expected to use it.
Butler stocks the 750 and 950 CFM HP carburetors in gold dichromate finish, 4150 square-bore, with Dominator-style fuel bowls that let you plumb the fuel line from either side.

More About HP
1. Who Should Buy an HP
The HP has been the standard square-bore race carburetor for decades, from NASCAR down to the Saturday night bracket car. On a Pontiac it belongs on a strip or strip-biased combination: a big cam, a single plane manifold, a converter and gear that let the engine live above idle.
| What you get | contoured venturi inlet for balanced airflow, screw-in air bleeds for precise tuning, four-corner idle, progressive secondaries for launch control, stainless steel throttle plates, notched float and jet extensions, and dual feed inlets for constant high volume fuel delivery. |
| Sizes stocked | 750 CFM with down leg boosters and dual 30cc accelerator pumps, and 950 CFM. Both are calibrated for gasoline and 100 percent wet-flow tested before shipping. |
| Bowls that plumb either side | the HP uses Dominator-style fuel bowls, which is a real install advantage in a tight Pontiac engine bay where the line has to come from one particular direction. |
2. What It Costs You on the Street
Two things, and neither is subtle. First, there is no choke — cold starts are a pedal-and-patience exercise, and a car that lives outside in winter will not thank you. Second, the calibration is optimized for wide open throttle, so part-throttle cruise and light-load fuel economy are your problem to tune, not Holley's.
