Metering Rods and Real Numbers — Edelbrock Carburetors for Pontiac V8s
Edelbrock carburetors meter differently from a Holley. The Performer Series uses metering rods instead of a power valve, so a backfire cannot blow anything out and the rods change in seconds without pulling the carburetor or draining fuel. The two-piece aluminum body resists warping and holds a tune once you set it.

2. VRS-4150: What Butler Found on the Dyno
The VRS is street friendly on top of a race carburetor. A 3.75 inch tall cast aluminum main body fits both 4150 and 4500 flange manifolds with no adapter plate; it has a universal throttle arm, PTFE-coated throttle shafts, multiple vacuum hookups and provisions for a GM three-wire TPS. Underneath are four-circuit billet metering blocks with screw-in emulsion bleeds, bowls 20 percent larger with slosh baffling, floats with corner cuts, rear jet extenders, interchangeable idle discharge jets in all four corners, idle bypass air adjustable without pulling the air cleaner, and power valves on both primaries and secondaries with a backfire protection circuit.
3. Two Fitment Notes Before You Order

| Fuel line | a Russell or Holley dual inlet 4150 line will require a spacer for use on an Edelbrock Performer intake. The VRS uses the 4150 bowl pattern; the Performer Series square-flange carburetors take a single front inlet. |
