Match the Pump, Not the Year — Power Steering Pulleys- V-Belt for Pontiac V8s
The power steering pulley is the one front-end part that is chosen by the pump, not by the engine. A Pontiac V8 pulley has to match whether the Saginaw pump shaft is keyed or a press fit, and whether the car was built with air conditioning, because the A/C pulley sits at a different diameter.

1. Keyed shaft or press fit
This is the first question and it decides everything else. Pontiac used the keyed Saginaw pump through the mid seventies and the press fit pump after it, and the two pulleys are not interchangeable in either direction.

2. Air conditioning and the 1970 F-body exception
Within the keyed pumps there are three different pulleys, and picking the wrong one puts the belt out of plane rather than stopping the install outright.

3. Before you order
Pull the pulley off the pump and look at the shaft rather than relying on the build year, especially on a car that has had a pump replaced at some point in fifty years. Once the pulley is on, check alignment with a straightedge across the crank pulley; a power steering pulley that sits a groove off will chew a belt in a few hundred miles. If you are also replacing the crank or water pump pulleys, buy them together so the groove spacing is consistent across the front of the engine.
