Tunable EFI is where you stop letting the box decide. The FAST XFI Sportsman engine control system is a bank-to-bank, fully software-tunable setup that fills the gap between a self-tuning EZ-EFI kit and a full race ECU. It requires a laptop and FAST C-Com software, and it gives you the fuel, timing and air/fuel target tables to go with it.
Butler stocks the XFI Sportsman multi-port engine control system and the XFI eDash touchscreen hand-held that plugs into it. This is the page for muscle car, late model street and sportsman drag engines, and for boosted or individual runner combinations that a wizard cannot guess at.

1. Why tunable instead of self-tuning
A self-tuning system corrects fuel against an oxygen sensor and does a good job on a street engine. It cannot read your mind about a nitrous hit or a boost curve.

2. What the kit includes and what you supply
This is an engine control system, not a bolt-on induction package. The ECU end is complete; the air and fuel hardware is your call.

| You supply the induction | XFI Sportsman is designed for high-impedance injectors and works with a variety of multi-port systems, or with either generation of the FAST EZ-EFI throttle body. Butler stocks Edelbrock EFI intakes, fuel rails and high-impedance PICO injectors under EFI Components. |
| Fuel plumbing | It is compatible with both return-style and returnless fuel systems, so an existing EFI tank and pump setup can usually carry over. |
| Timing | Configure it for electronic timing control with a FAST distributor or crank trigger, or set timing by hand with a standard carb-type distributor using the included tach adapter. The RPM signal from an aftermarket CD ignition box is also an option. |
3. The eDash, and the laptop you still need
The XFI eDash is the add-on that makes a tuned car livable day to day, but it does not replace the initial setup.

If you are not going to open the software, buy a self-tuning system and be happier. If you are, this is the ECU that gets you real tables without a full race-only package.
