The Size Most Pontiacs Run — -6 Fittings for Pontiac V8s
-6 fittings are the default size for a carbureted Pontiac V8. Russell lists -6 at a 3/8" nominal inside diameter and calls out carburetor, fuel and oil lines as its typical use, which is exactly the run from a mechanical pump up to a Q-Jet or a dual inlet Holley. Nearly every fuel plumbing kit Butler sells is built around it.
Butler stocks Russell -6 hose ends in straight, 45 degree and 90 degree, in black and Endura finishes, and it is the one size here that comes in both Full Flow ends for braided ProFlex and Twist-Lok push-on ends for Twist-Lok hose.

1. What -6 actually does on a Pontiac V8
If you are plumbing a carbureted street or strip Pontiac, -6 is almost certainly the size you want. Russell's own sizing table puts -6 at 3/8" nominal inside diameter and lists its typical use as carburetor, fuel and oil lines.

2. Full Flow or Twist-Lok, and why it matters
-6 is the only size in this section where Butler stocks both end styles, and they are not interchangeable. The end has to match the hose family.

| Do not mix them | a Full Flow end will not seal on Twist-Lok hose and a Twist-Lok end does not belong on braided hose. Decide the hose family first, then order ends to match. |
3. Angle selection, and the clearance problems -6 solves
Straight, 45 degree and 90 degree are not styling choices. They are how you keep a fuel line off the exhaust and out from under the air cleaner.
| Straight | use it wherever the hose has room to sweep into the port. It takes up the least length and puts the least stress on the hose. |
| 45 degree | the workhorse for turning a line out of a fuel log or a pump outlet without a hard kink. Butler's pump to carburetor kits lean on -6 full flow swivel 45 degree elbows for exactly this. |
| 90 degree | for tight exits, particularly at a pump outlet that points the wrong way. Related to this, Butler stocks a 6AN to 3/8 O-ring 45 degree steel fitting specifically to clear Sniper EFI and drop base applications where the fuel fitting hits the base pan. If your throttle body fitting is fighting the air cleaner, that is the part. |
4. What else you will need with -6 ends
Hose ends land on hose. Getting onto a pump, carburetor or regulator takes an adapter, and the pipe thread depends on the part.
