Where the Line Ends — Hose End Fittings for Pontiac V8s
Hose end fittings are the pieces that go on the hose itself. Every AN line on a Pontiac V8 terminates in one at each end, and the three choices you make are the dash size, the angle, and whether the end suits braided hose or push-on hose. Those three decisions cover most of an AN build.

More About Hose End Fittings
1. Pick the dash size first
The dash number is a size code shared by the hose, the end and the adapter. Get it right once and the rest of the order follows.
| -6 | Russell's listed use is carburetor, fuel and oil lines. This is the standard size for a carbureted Pontiac fuel system and the size most of Butler's fuel line kits are built on. |
| -8 | fuel, oil and water lines. The step up for a large carburetor inlet, a high output pump, or remote oil filter and cooler plumbing. |
| -10 | fuel, oil, water and heater lines. Usually pump suction, cell pickup and oil cooler duty. |
| -12 | the largest size stocked here, for feed, suction, vent and fuel cell plumbing where flow area is the whole point. |
2. Then pick the angle
Angle is about clearance, not appearance. Choose the one that lets the hose leave the port already headed where it needs to go.
| Straight | the shortest and simplest termination, for anywhere the hose has room to sweep in. |
| 45 degree | the most useful angle on a Pontiac engine bay, where a line has to turn out of a fuel log or pump without kinking. |
| 90 degree | for tight exits and for getting a line away from a header or an air cleaner base immediately. |
3. Match the end to the hose family and the finish
Two hose families are in the catalog, and each has its own ends. This is the single most common ordering mistake.

| Twist-Lok ends for push-on hose | Butler stocks these in -6 in straight, 45 and 90 degree, all black. They push onto Twist-Lok hose with no braid to trim, which makes assembly much faster. |
| Finish | black and Endura run across the sizes. Pick one and carry it through the adapters as well, so the finished system matches. |
