Pontiac V8 -12 Fittings
The Big End of the Catalog — -12 Fittings for Pontiac V8s
-12 fittings are the largest AN hose ends Butler stocks, and they exist for the handful of connections on a Pontiac that genuinely need a big line. Russell lists -12 at 3/4" nominal inside diameter with typical use covering fuel, oil and water lines plus heater hoses. This is feed, suction, return and fuel cell territory, not carburetor territory.
Butler carries Russell -12 hose ends in straight, 45 degree and 90 degree in black and Endura, -12 flare adapters to both 1/2 NPT and 3/4 NPT, a Russell -12 AN fuel cell bulkhead and an Earl's -12 AN male weld fitting.

More About -12 Fittings
1. What -12 is for, and what it is not for
Very little on a Pontiac V8 needs a 3/4" nominal line, and that is the point. When something does need it, nothing smaller will do.
| Suction and feed | the inlet side of a large pump, or a gravity fed pickup out of a cell, where any restriction costs you pressure you cannot get back. |
| Vent and drain lines | cell vents and drains that need to pass volume with no pressure behind them at all. |
| Large oil and water plumbing | Russell lists -12 for oil and water lines and heater hoses, which covers cooler circuits and remote plumbing on a serious build. |
| Not a carburetor feed | a -12 line into a carburetor inlet is not a benefit. Carburetor and regulator plumbing on a Pontiac is a -6 or -8 job. Use -12 where flow area actually matters. |
2. Getting a -12 line onto hardware
Almost nothing comes from the factory with a -12 port, so the adapter you pick is the whole install.
| -12 flare to 1/2 NPT | stocked in black and Endura, for hardware with a 1/2 pipe thread where you still want the larger line. |
| -12 flare to 3/4 NPT | the larger pipe thread landing, for pumps, filters and tank ports built to match the line. |
| -12 AN fuel cell bulkhead | a Russell -12 AN male bulkhead in black anodized for a sealed pass through at a cell wall. |
| -12 AN weld fitting | an Earl's -12 AN male weld bung in 6061 aluminum, made in the USA, when the port has to be created rather than adapted. |
3. Routing a line this size
A -12 braided hose is heavy and stiff. The build has to be planned around it rather than the other way around.
| The angle is the design | straight, 45 and 90 degree ends are how a -12 run gets made. Choose the angle so the hose leaves each port already pointed where it needs to go. |
| Support it | a long -12 run carries real weight, especially full of fuel, and it should be secured rather than hanging on the fittings at each end. |
| Clearance is tight everywhere | allow for suspension and steering travel and for the hose to move under load. There is far less room to fix a mistake with a -12 than with a -6. |
4. Finish and consistency
Butler stocks the -12 ends and adapters in the finishes that match the rest of an AN system.
| Black anodized | the low key choice, and the finish the Russell fuel cell bulkheads come in. |
| Endura | available across the -12 hose ends and both the 1/2 NPT and 3/4 NPT adapters, if that is the look you are carrying through the car. |
| Bare aluminum weld bungs | the Earl's weld fittings are bare 6061, since they are meant to be welded in and then finished or left as is. |
If you are sizing a fuel system and are not sure whether -10 or -12 is right on the suction side, call Butler with the pump and the tank or cell you are running. That pair decides it.
