Pontiac V8 350 Pistons
Small Bore, Big Choices — 350 Pistons for Pontiac V8s
350 Pistons are the small-bore end of the Pontiac V8 family, and the parts are not interchangeable with a 400 or a 455. A Pontiac 350 runs a 3.875" standard bore, so the piston sets here are cut for 3.905" and 3.935" finished bores, with compression height set by whether you keep the 3.750" stroke or step up to a stroker crank.
Butler stocks DSS 2618 forged pistons with rings included, a Butler Quick Ship forged flat top and ring kit for a 4.250" stroke 3.905" bore combination, and fully custom Ross and DSS sets when the bore, dish or stroke you need is not on the shelf.

1. Bore sizes and what fits a Pontiac 350
The 350 is its own bore family. Nothing listed for a 400 or a 455 will drop into it, and the ring sets are sized to match.

| Butler Quick Ship | A forged -8cc flat top piston and ring kit at 3.905" bore on a 4.250" stroke, 1.295" compression height, pins included, with a stainless steel top ring set in 1.2mm, 1.2mm, 3.0mm. |

2. Stock stroke rebuild or 350 based stroker
Two very different customers land on this page, and the compression height is what separates them.
| 3.750" stroke | The factory stroke. DSS forged pistons for the 350 run a 1.710" compression height on a 6.625" rod with a .980" pin. Ross custom pistons for the same stroke list a 1.720" compression height. |
| 4.250" stroke | A 350 block turned into a stroker. Compression height drops to 1.295", and the small end of a stock rod has to be narrowed to use the Butler Quick Ship pistons. |
| Dish or flat top | Butler lists a -7cc flat top and a -14cc dish in the DSS forged line, both with rings included. Butler's own compression guidance is 9.5:1 maximum on cast iron heads and 10.5:1 maximum on aluminum for pump gas. |
3. Heads, rings and what else the order needs
| Valve angle | The DSS -7cc flat top for the 350 is listed for both early and late valve angle heads, and the -14cc dish fits early and late model heads. If the heads are not chosen yet, a dual-pocket piston keeps the options open. |
| Ring pack | The DSS sets that include rings come in 1.0-1.0-3.0mm or 1.2mm, 1.2mm, 3mm. Butler's Quick Ship kit includes a stainless top ring set. If you buy pistons without rings, order the ring set to the finished bore. |
| Rod clearance | Stock cast rods may need to be narrowed and the balance pad removed to clear the inside of forged pistons. Plan for that at the machine shop, not on the engine stand. |
Tell Butler your finished bore, your stroke and your chamber volume and the 350 piston choice narrows to one or two sets very quickly. Custom pistons are not returnable, so it is worth the call before the order goes in.
