Measure the Core — 1964-67 A-Body GTO/LeMans for Pontiac V8s
On a 1964-67 GTO, LeMans or Tempest the radiator is chosen by the core support, not by the engine. These cars left the factory with either an A/C support or a non-A/C support, and the A/C support is 2 inches taller. A 17.5 inch core will not go into a 15.5 inch opening no matter what is bolted to the front of the block.

More About 1964-67 A-Body GTO/LeMans
1. A/C support or non-A/C support
This is the most useful fact on the page, and it is Butler's own tech guide. The 1964-67 Tempest, LeMans and GTO came with either an A/C radiator support or a non-A/C support, and the A/C support is 2 inches taller. The one exception is 1964: all 1964 GTOs got the 17.5 inch core.
| Measure the original radiator | if you have a 15.5 inch core, you need the non-A/C radiator, and that is true even if you are installing aftermarket air conditioning. |
| If you measure 17.5 inch | you need the A/C radiator, and that is true even if the car no longer has air conditioning. |
| The supports look different | the taller A/C support is easy to identify once you know to look, but the tape measure settles it faster than the eyeball does. |
2. Cold Case direct-fit radiators
Cold Case builds these as direct-fit replacements with the correct factory stamping and OE-style fittings, so once painted they are nearly indistinguishable from an original. Choose by year, support and transmission.

3. Complete kits and high-horsepower options
| Cold Case Super Duty kits | a high-capacity aluminum radiator, dual 12 inch 2800 CFM electric fans and a direct-fit aluminum shroud, sold in A/C-support and non-A/C-support versions for 1964-67. Two rows of 1.25 inch tubes give about 20 percent more cooling capacity than a standard OEM-style GTO unit. |

4. Fitment notes worth reading twice
| The factory shroud does not carry over | the Super Duty kits are sold as complete kits only, and the factory fan shroud will not work with the radiator. |
| 1964-65 upper hose | owners of 1964-65 cars must use a 1966-67 intake water inlet and top radiator hose with those kits. |
| Insulators and cap | the radiator may not seat in the ribs on the insulators, factory insulators may need trimming to clear the larger core, and the fill cap may not sit dead center. |
| Going from 3-row to a larger core | the Cold Case 1964-67 GTO radiator conversion kit supplies the two lower brackets and three insulators that job takes. |
