Pontiac V8 Fans, Shrouds, and Accessories
Move the Air — Fans, Shrouds, and Accessories for Pontiac V8s
A radiator only cools the air you actually pull through it. Fans, shrouds and accessories covers the parts that make a core work in traffic: Spal puller fans, custom aluminum shroud kits built for specific Cold Case cores, wiring and relay kits, insulators, support brackets and core support conversion hardware.
Butler stocks Fast Monty dual-fan shroud kits for 1966-67 and 1968-77 A-body, 1967-69 and 1970-81 F-body Cold Case radiators, Spal 12" and 14" puller fans with jumper harnesses, a thermostatic fan wiring kit, rubber insulators and an adjustable billet radiator support bracket.

More About Fans, Shrouds, and Accessories
1. Shroud kits built for a specific core
These are not universal panels. Each kit is designed around a particular Cold Case radiator and a particular car, custom designed by Fast Monty, manufactured by SendCutSend, and stocked and shipped from Butler Performance.
| 1966-1967 LeMans and GTO without A/C | mounts dual 14 inch fans to the Cold Case GPG34 core. Fans are Spal pullers at 1864 CFM each. |
| 1967-1969 Firebird | mounts dual 12 inch Spal pullers, 1451 CFM each, to the Cold Case CHC11 or CHC547 core. |
| 1968-1977 A-body | dual 14 inch Spal pullers on the Cold Case GMA42 core. |
| 1970-1981 Firebird and Trans Am | dual 14 inch Spal pullers for Cold Case GPF18 cores. This version can be flipped over to mount the fans higher or lower, with slotted mounting holes top and bottom. |
Each kit ships with the fans, the shroud, rubber flap doors, stainless hardware, Spal pigtails and a Painless dual wiring harness that switches on at 195 degrees and off at 185. The shrouds are a three-piece design because these are downflow radiators, with M6x1 threaded holes throughout. They are stocked in raw aluminum, which shows witness marks near the bends that clean up with a scuff pad or paint. Powder coated versions run roughly two to three weeks.
2. Fans and wiring on their own
| Spal 12 inch puller | 1451 CFM, ten curved blades, fully sealed motor to IP68 standards. Note that it is not a direct bolt-on for a Cold Case radiator. |
| Spal 14 inch puller | 1864 CFM, ten curved blades, same sealed 12 volt motor design. |
| Jumper harnesses | Spal electric fan jumper harnesses fit the 12 and 14 inch fans, one per fan. |
| Cold Case fan wiring kit | works with single or dual fans, switches on at 190 degrees, includes the relay, inline fuse and connectors, and handles combined fan draw up to 30 amps. A single 16 inch Cold Case fan pulls 6 to 8 amps and dual 12 inch fans pull about 12. |
3. Mounting, insulators and core support work
The parts that hold the radiator are the ones nobody orders until the radiator is sitting in the car and does not line up.
| Rubber insulators | Cold Case radiator insulators isolate the core from the support to prevent vibration, chafing and stress cracks. Two pair are needed per car, and they fit 1969-74 GTO, 1969-77 Grand Prix, 1970-81 Firebird and Trans Am, and 1969-70 full size Pontiac. |
| Adjustable support bracket | the CVF billet bracket handles radiators from 1.5 to 3.5 inches thick and comes in two ranges, sold individually. |
| 1964-67 GTO radiator conversion kit | needed when moving from a standard 3-row radiator to a heavy duty 4-row or most aluminum radiators. It includes two lower mounting brackets and three rubber insulators, the extra one being for the upper bracket, since a standard duty car uses a smaller insulator there. |
| Billet radiator cap cover | dresses a stock or Cold Case cap. It ships unassembled so you can clock it, and Butler recommends a high heat silicone or adhesive when putting the two pieces together. |
One rule worth repeating: if you fit a larger aluminum core to an early A-body, the factory fan shroud usually will not work with it, and the factory insulators may need trimming. Order the shroud kit with the radiator rather than after it.
