The 1961-64 full-size Pontiacs — Bonneville, Catalina and Grand Prix — carry the 389 and 421, and they use a tall, deep radiator with large 1.75 inch hoses at both ends. Nothing from an A-body fits, and the factory copper and brass core is usually the weak point on a car this heavy.

1. What this radiator is
This is a direct-fit aluminum upgrade for 1961-1964 Bonneville, Catalina and Grand Prix with the 389 or 421 V8, built for cars equipped with factory air conditioning and an automatic transmission.

2. Why a big car needs it
A full-size Pontiac is heavy, geared for cruising and often carries factory air, and the 389 and 421 make plenty of heat sitting still. Cold Case rates a 2-row of this construction as typically outperforming an original 4-row copper and brass core by roughly 10 to 15 percent, at a fraction of the weight. Because it uses the correct factory stamping and OE-style fittings, a coat of paint makes it nearly indistinguishable from the original unit.
3. Check before you order
Confirm two things on the car itself: that it has the automatic transmission this version is built around, and that the upper and lower hose sizes match the 1.75 inch fittings. If your car is a manual, or a later 1965-67 full size, that is a different radiator and a different listing.
