Air cleaner accessories are the small parts that finish the job: the stud that holds the lid down, the wingnut on top of it, the fitting that lets a smog tube connect, and the plumbing that vents a Pontiac V8 crankcase into the filter housing. None of them are interesting until the one you are missing keeps the hood from closing.

1. Studs and wingnuts
Steel air cleaner lids mount on a stud through the middle with a wingnut on top, and several lids on this site are sold without that hardware. Because air cleaner height varies with the base drop, the spacer stack and the element you chose, the stud is supplied long and cut to fit.

Cast and billet lids generally use a low profile tapered head screw instead of a stud and wingnut, so check which style your lid takes before ordering.
2. Venting into the air cleaner
Two parts here deal with what goes into the housing rather than what holds it down.

| Butler Pontiac breather tube kit | a full kit to plumb the air filter housing to an oil separator on an engine running aftermarket valve covers. It requires a 1.25 inch hole for the grommet, so plan on drilling the housing rather than expecting a bolt-in. |
The breather tube kit is the one worth thinking about early. If you are running aftermarket valve covers with no factory PCV or breather provision, the crankcase still has to vent somewhere, and routing it into the air cleaner through an oil separator keeps oil mist out of the filter. Work that out while the valve covers are still off the engine.
