Cut and Welded Here — Valve Covers- Butler Custom for Pontiac V8s
A set of Butler Custom valve covers is the most visible thing on top of a Pontiac V8, and it is also the part most likely to hit something. Height decides whether your roller rockers, stud girdle, brake booster and hood all get along, so this is a fitment call first and a dress-up call second.
Butler builds these in our own shop — hand-fabricated aluminum sets in 2 3/4" and 3 1/2", CNC-machined 6061 billet sets in 2 3/4" and 3 3/4", the 3.00" tall CNC logo covers, and an EVAC-ready version with the baffle welded in and a -10AN fitting installed.

1. Fabricated or billet
Both families are made to order in Lawrenceburg. The difference is how they are built.
| Hand-fabricated aluminum | welded up in house in raw aluminum or black, 2 3/4" or 3 1/2" tall, with a 1/4" thick gasket rail, 5/16" stainless bolts and an oil fill cap installed where you choose. |
| CNC billet | machined from solid 6061 aircraft-grade billet with rounded contours and a precision-milled sealing rail, in natural billet or black anodized, 2 3/4" or 3 3/4" tall, with stainless bolts and a threaded oil fill and billet cap. |
| CNC logo covers | 3.00" overall height in black, satin with clear, or polished, priced plain with the logo added in the options. The polished finish is machine polished, not a hand-rubbed mirror. |
2. Height is the whole decision
Pick the height off the valvetrain and the car, not off the photographs.
| Stud girdle | go to the 3 1/2" fabricated set or the 3 3/4" billet set. The short covers will not clear a girdle, and the CNC logo covers at 3.00" will not either. |
| Power brake booster | measure from the valve cover rail on the head to the booster. You need 3". A tight car may need the short 2 3/4" version or a small-diameter booster. |
| Factory air conditioning | none of these will work with stock A/C brackets. |
| 1967-69 Firebird | watch the wiper motor, and watch it again if you are stacking a thick valve cover gasket under the rail. |
| Roller rockers | the 3.00" CNC logo covers clear most roller rockers on their own. The tall sets are for when a girdle sits on top of them. |
3. Spec the top before you order
Because every set is cut to order, breather and oil fill placement is yours to call. Put the locations in the order notes — oil fill driver front, breathers driver and passenger rear.
| Evac bung and baffle | add the option and the covers ship without breather holes. GZ kits run a -10AN bung, Butler and Moroso kits a -12AN. |
| EVAC-ready CNC logo set | ships with the baffle welded in and a -10AN fitting installed, with the billet oil fill cap in the passenger front location unless the order notes say otherwise. |
| Logos and gaskets | run them plain or have a logo milled in — Butler Pontiac, GTO, Pontiac Racing, or fully custom engraving — and add a matching set of valve cover gaskets right in the options. |
Get the height right first and the rest is just how you want it to look. If you are not sure the valvetrain or the booster will live with the set you picked, call the shop before you order rather than after.
