Pontiac V8 SELF TUNING EFI - EZ-EFI (2.0)
The Second Generation — SELF TUNING EFI - EZ-EFI (2.0) for Pontiac V8s
FAST EZ-EFI 2.0 is the second generation of the self-tuning carb-to-EFI system. It still asks a few wizard questions and then tunes itself as you drive, but the hardware moved on: an eight-injector die cast throttle body, late-model OEM sensors, built-in ignition timing control, and the ability to run E85, E98 and E15 ethanol blends.
Butler stocks the 2.0 as a base kit with no fuel system, and as the multi-port retro-fit kit that adds EZ-EFI 2.0 self-tuning to an existing factory or aftermarket port injection setup. Both use a color touchscreen hand-held and include electronic fuel pressure measurement as standard.

More About SELF TUNING EFI - EZ-EFI (2.0)
1. What 2.0 changed
The self-tuning behavior is the same promise. The throttle body underneath it is a different part.
| Eight injectors, not four | The die cast throttle body carries eight injectors with an integrated fuel rail and crossover for tighter packaging, and it flows more air than the first generation body thanks to an improved inlet. |
| Fuel control | An integrated fuel pulse damper, unique to FAST, smooths the supply for more precise metering. Electronic fuel pressure measurement is standard on every kit. |
| Mechanical detail | Needle-bearing supported shafts instead of bushings, and a secondary shaft throttle stop adjustment for finer idle airflow balance. |
| Fuel type | It will run E85, E98 and E15 ethanol blends, which the earlier generation will not. |
2. Throttle body base kit or multi-port retro-fit
These two kits solve different problems and are not interchangeable.
| Base kit, no fuel system | The full carb-to-EFI package with the 2.0 throttle body, harness, hand-held and sensors, for a Pontiac that still has a four-barrel manifold on it. You supply the EFI-capable fuel system. |
| Multi-port retro-fit | ECU, retro-fit harness with mesh loom, wide-band oxygen sensor, fuel pressure sensor with mounting block, and the touchscreen hand-held. It lets an existing multi-port intake run EZ-EFI 2.0 self-tuning, with no horsepower ceiling because fueling is set by the injectors you supply. |
| Injector requirement | The retro-fit kit requires high-impedance injectors. Edelbrock PICO high-impedance sets and matching Pontiac fuel rails are stocked under EFI Components. |
3. Vacuum, fuel and spark before you order
One specification on this system catches Pontiac guys more than any other, and it is worth reading twice.
| Eight inches of manifold vacuum | EZ-EFI 2.0 requires 8 inches of manifold vacuum. A big solid roller in a short-stroke engine can fall under that at idle, and no amount of wizard answers fixes it. Know your vacuum figure before you buy. |
| Fuel flexibility | The system is compatible with in-tank, inline, high horsepower inline, return style and returnless pump arrangements, and it works with either generation of EZ-EFI throttle body, multi-port systems, dual quad setups and Inglese throttle bodies. |
| Ignition | EZ-Ignition with the EZ-Solution option works with most common ignition systems, but precision timing control requires a FAST distributor or crank trigger. |
If your combination makes good vacuum and you want the newest self-tuning hardware, the base kit is the straightforward buy. If you already have a port-injected intake on the engine, the retro-fit kit is the cheaper and better answer.
