Holley Sniper and Sniper 2 are the self-tuning throttle body systems that replaced more carburetors than anything else on the market. Four wiring connections, a calibration wizard that asks a few questions about your engine, and the ECU begins self-tuning against a Bosch LSU 4.9 wide-band oxygen sensor with no laptop involved.

1. Sniper 2: the 4150 conversion
Sniper 2 is the current generation, with fourteen changes over the original system aimed at the realities of a fifty year old car.
| Capacity | Four 100 lb/hr injectors support up to 650hp naturally aspirated or 575hp on boost. |
| Old car wiring | The next generation ECU has improved RF noise and interference resistance, which is aimed squarely at tired harnesses, noisy alternators and faulty plug wires. That is a real problem on an original car, not a spec sheet line. |
| Clean install | A hidden harness exits from the rear of the throttle body, and only four wiring connections are required: battery positive, battery negative, switched ignition and RPM. |

2. Sniper EFI Quadrajet: when the hood decides
This is the version that matters on a mostly original Pontiac, and the reason is clearance rather than power.
| No adapter stack | The Quadrajet system is a bolt-on spread bore throttle body that needs no adapter, sealing plate or intake manifold swap. A 4150-style throttle body on a Q-Jet intake needs a 1 in. adapter, and that inch is exactly what a Ram Air hood or a T/A shaker does not have. |
| Capacity | Four 100 lb/hr injectors supporting up to 500hp naturally aspirated, with 715 CFM through a spread bore flange. |
| Stock appearance | It fits most stock Rochester Quadrajet air cleaners and offers multiple fuel inlet configurations so the installation can look factory. A brake booster adapter is included if your car needs it, along with a universal throttle and kickdown bracket. |
| Regulator required | The Quadrajet system needs an external fuel pressure regulator, unlike some of the self-contained throttle bodies. |
3. What the install still needs
| An EFI fuel system | High pressure, with a return. The Sniper 2 kit can be ordered with a fuel system, or you can start from Butler's Complete EFI Solutions tank and pump packages. |
| Fitting clearance | On drop base air cleaner setups the fuel fittings can contact the base pan. A 6AN to 3/8 O-ring 45 degree steel fitting clears it. |
| Ignition | Sniper 2 harnesses include plug-and-play HyperSpark distributor support for integrated timing control, with separate adapters available for CD boxes and MSD Pro Billet or crank trigger installations. |
Measure hood clearance and check what intake is on the engine first. Those two things decide between the 4150 and the Quadrajet body more often than horsepower does.
