Chassis First — Radiators/Fans/Shrouds for Pontiac V8s
Radiators, fans and shrouds is organized by chassis, because a Pontiac radiator is not chosen by engine size — it is chosen by the core support it has to bolt into. A 400 in an A-body and a 400 in a Firebird need two different radiators, and within one chassis the A/C and non-A/C supports take different core heights.

1. Shop by the car, not the engine
Every subcategory here is a body and a year range, because that is what determines the opening the radiator has to live in. Pick your chassis, then sort out transmission and A/C.

2. The three questions that pick the part
| Automatic or manual | automatic cars generally want the version with the built-in transmission cooler. Manual cars do not, and some kits are simply not offered with a trans cooler. |
| A/C or non-A/C core support | on 1964-67 A-bodies this is the whole ballgame. The A/C support is 2 inches taller and takes a 17.5 inch core, while the non-A/C support takes 15.5 inch. Measure the original radiator rather than trusting what the car has under the hood today. |
| How much engine | a mild 350 and a 700-horsepower stroker do not need the same core. Entropy rates its radiator and fan combinations by horsepower and states plainly that a Pontiac is harder to cool than a Chevy, rating the same unit 100 horsepower lower behind a Pontiac V8. |
3. Fan and shroud, not just radiator
A big core with no shroud will still boil in traffic. Air has to be pulled through the whole core, not just the patch in front of the fan, which is why Butler stocks chassis-specific shroud kits built around particular Cold Case cores along with Spal puller fans and the wiring to switch them. Cold Case's own fan wiring kit turns the fans on at 190 degrees and includes the relay and fusing.
