Pontiac V8 Multi-Port EFI Systems

Injectors at the Port — Multi-Port EFI Systems for Pontiac V8s

Multi-Port EFI puts an injector at each intake port instead of spraying fuel down a throttle body, so the intake manifold is part of the system rather than a carryover part. On a Pontiac that means a purpose-built EFI intake, fuel rails and eight injectors sized to the power you are after.

Butler stocks Edelbrock Pro-Flo 4 complete kits for Pontiac 326-455 in two horsepower grades, and builds its own Holley Terminator X multi-port kit around an Edelbrock Torker II EFI intake with port matching available to your cylinder heads.

More About Multi-Port EFI Systems

1. Why port injection instead of a throttle body

A throttle body system is easier to install because it keeps your manifold. Multi-port costs you the manifold and buys you distribution.

Fuel placementEach cylinder gets its own injector at its own port, so distribution stops depending on runner shape and wet flow.
Hood clearance is a real factorThese are complete intake systems with a throttle body on top. Pro-Flo 4 kits use a 4150-style manifold with a height of 6.60 in. and a throttle body height of 2.25 in. Measure before you order if the car has a stock hood.
Not a bolt-onBudget for the intake swap, harness routing and a fuel system capable of 58 psi with a return.

2. Edelbrock Pro-Flo 4: which horsepower grade

Two Pontiac 326-455 kits, same architecture, different injectors. Both are self-learning and tune through the free E-Tuner 4 Bluetooth app on an Android phone or tablet, with no laptop required.

Up to 550 HP kitSatin 4150-style single plane intake with 29 lb/hr injectors rated to 550 HP at 58 psi fuel pressure. The right kit for a healthy street 400 or 455 that is not chasing a number.
Up to 625 HP kitThe same package with 35 lb/hr injectors. Edelbrock also lists it as boost capable with a 2 bar MAP sensor and injectors upgraded to the target power level.
What comes with bothA plug-and-play single connection distributor made for Pro-Flo 4, a fully terminated USA-made harness with labeled connections, and an ECU with a waterproof design and Bluetooth. Neither kit is recommended with E85.

3. The Butler Terminator X multi-port kit

This is the shop's own package for builders who want Holley EFI architecture on a port-injected Pontiac.

What is in itA Holley Terminator X multi-port system, a Holley EFI 1000 CFM four-barrel throttle body, an Edelbrock EFI Torker II intake, Edelbrock EFI fuel rails with 42 lb injectors, and the complete wiring harness.
Port matchingButler can port match the Torker II intake to your cylinder heads, which is the kind of detail that separates a kit that bolts on from a combination that works.
ControlTerminator X brings real-time fuel learn, high impedance injector drivers, an integrated 1 bar MAP sensor and four programmable inputs and outputs for fans, boost solenoids or progressive nitrous, with a 3.5 in. touchscreen handheld and full laptop software for advanced users.

If the engine is together with a good carb intake and you mainly want drivability, a throttle body system is the cheaper path. If the intake is coming off anyway, go port injection.
