Butler/Comp SP Street Performance Billet Roller Cam (HR) 282/288, 230/236, .510/.521, 114 LS (Std Firing Order/ Std Journals)
Fits between the 423 (mild) and the 433 (radical) Cams from Comp with wider lobe separation. Similar in size at .050" as a Ram Air IV except more lift. Also makes much power than the Ram Air IV with a broader power curve.
Description
Butler has had proven results with Comp Cams. These cams are custom grinds that we stock on the shelf. This takes the headache out of trying to get the custom grind for your application. We have spent lots of resources perfecting the components of our proven engines and these cams are the common grinds you will find inside them. We realized that we were asking for the same custom grinds for our applications so we decided to stock what we use.
(HR) (Std Firing Order/ Std Journals) 282/288, 230/236, .510/.521, 114LS with 1.5 ratio rockers
Lift with 1.65 ratio rockers .561/.573
Slightly more vacuum than a 112 and produces a little smoother idle.

My 67GTO motor is a 400 bored & stroked to 461 with Edelbrock 87cc heads, Edelbrock Torker Il EFI and Doug's Headers. The first cam I used was a Comp EX268. The car never ran right' rough idle, terrible in traffic. RWHP wasn't bad at 370. Basically not a good driver. Switched to the Butler Cam, what a difference. The car idles well be but still has enough lump. I don't have to be in first gear below 1500 rpm. The engine develops about the same RWHP at 375 but has a much broader range. I'm very pleased with this cam. I was hoping for over 400 hp but, for what I use the car for I don't mind trading a little less Hp for drive ability. Butler Performance is a superior company. They may not remember me, I started this project about 15 years ago but they have provided excellent service, recommendations, advice and parts over the years. They actually listen and go beyond the norm to insure that the customer gets the right part or the job.

In a 461 6x headed new build with Johnson lifters love the idle it's just a hint of rowdy provides super linear acceleration. Best decision ive made not worrying about flat tappet break in and pulling the inside valvesprings using zinc . Thanks Butler crew
