Customer Engines » Poindexter,Joe
We started this build reconditioning the customers 455 block and putting it through the Butler Process. This engine pushed out 547 HP and 592 Torque to keep the customers 65 GTO on the road and a blast to get behind the wheel. The bottom end of this engine has an Eagle 4.250" stroke crank with H-Beam rods and a set of our Stocking BP/Ross Flat Top Pistons. The customer wanted to upgrade internals to help increase power as well as durability of his engine and thus opted for a Hydraulic Roller setup. We started with a Comp Cams/Butler Performance custom grind Billet Cam, 3315-3316 HR 114 Lobe separation and paired that with Morel Hydraulic Roller Lifters. Scorpion 1.65 Endurance Roller Rockers, Smith brothers pushrods, Ferrea intake and exhaust valves and Lunati valve springs help tie the valvetrain together. Edelbrock Rd. Port 300 CFM heads help get this engine the flow to get the horsepower and torque the customer was looking for. To make this engine look just as well as it performs the customer decided on using a March serpentine pulley system along with our BP short aluminum valve covers. Topping everything off is a Edelbrock Torker II intake and a Fast 1.0 EFI unit to make this engine as easy to start and tune as possible.
