Paul Delfeld’s 1964 GTO Convertible
Paul Delfeld, who owns Ram Air Restoration, has just completed a long term restoration on his 1964 GTO Convertible. The car started life as a Triple Black 389 Tri-Power car, with a 4 speed and AC. Paul wanted a “period correct” and original looking car that was also fun and easy to drive. He put the correct engine in storage and contacted Butler Performance to build a 421 SD engine with #980 SD heads and factory SD 2x4 intake and carbs. We stroked the 421 to 461 cu.ins., lowered the compression to a pump gas friendly 9.5:1 and installed a mild hyd roller cam. This engine produced 525 HP and almost 550 ft.lbs. of torque! Paul also installed a Tremec/TKO600 5 speed OD trans.
Congratulations to Paul on finishing his stunning GTO!
