Customer Engines » Byers, Ed
Ed started this Build using an IAII cast block that he will be using for street/strip/pro touring. To achieve this while still making this a great engine for cruising we used Edelbrock 87cc heads that we ported to 325 CFM along with a Northwind 4150 intake that is portmatched to the heads. Tucked under the PTF dropbase is a Holley Ultra XP 950 CFM carb to provide the needed Air/Fuel Flow this engine requires to make Ed's 77' Trans Am perform at its peak no matter where and when. Butler Performance polished valve covers really make this engine bewilder the beholder with a mirror finish. Sporting a Butler/Comp Hydraulic roller cam with a 113 Lobe separation helps add more pep especially paired with Eagle specialty products 4.250" stroke crank and the Butler/Ross 4.350" bore Dish pistons. Along with the Butler Performance GZ evac kit this engine is setup to be competitive at any pro touring event. On the dyno this engine produced 674 torque and 650 Horsepower which is a perfect balance for getting the head start and making sure you keep it.
