Press In Stud Conversion Service, to 7/16 Screw In Studs, Pontiac Cast Iron Heads, Set/2 1100H-STUD-CONV

This conversion service is for converting press in studs to 7/16 screw in studs. The press in studs are much weaker than the screw in and can be pulled out when running a performance cam. Previously the only option was to pull studs and tap to 1/2" and use an aftermarket 1/2" stud that had to be cut down due to excessive length. Now we can perform the services so your heads have stronger factory style screw in studs.

Steps for the conversion

We clean heads and pull existing studs if needed

Our CNC program will precisely measure the exact stud location

It will mill the boss height when needed for use with or without guide plates on 389/421 heads

The boss is milled lower to accommodate the screw in 7/16 stud with the hex bottom.

The hole is enlarged by precisely boring it to the proper size

It is then thread milled

Helicoil inserts are installed that accepts the 7/16 screw in stud

For 67 and later/ 14 degree heads you can use stock guide plates or CCA-4851-8
