High performance pistons from any manufacturer are only as good as their designer. BP has spent years of dyno and track testing to develop our current designs. BP stocks several popular pistons by Diamond Racing but we can design a custom piston for any application to fit your needs.

Diamond Racing Pistons builds every piston at their facility in Clinton Township, Michigan, forged and machined 100% in the USA. Our Diamond pistons are made from 2618 aluminum and carry Diamond's current performance features: forced pin oilers fed from the oil ring groove, 3D-profiled valve pockets, and pins fitted to the piston before it ships. Pins, locks and support rails are included where the design calls for them.

Because Diamond builds these to order, we are not limited to standard oversizes. Custom pistons are available in .005" bore increments, so we can match the exact finished bore of your block instead of forcing you to hone to a catalog size. Dome, flat top and dish designs are all available, and we spec compression height, dome or dish volume, valve pockets, pin size and ring package to your combination. Options such as lightweight internal milling, side gas ports, banana groove oil slots and custom pin fit can be added to any piston, which lets us build a light, high-RPM piston without giving up strength.

2618 is the material used when fatigue resistance and durability are of prime importance by all premium racing piston manufacturers. This material has less than 1% silicon particulate content. High silicon content pistons (forged from 4032 or MS75) will not stand up to the most extreme stress placed on many racing pistons. If a crack starts to form in a high silicon piston it will continue until the piston experiences a catastrophic failure. Simply stated, adding sand to the aluminum only makes it more brittle. In the rare instance of a 2618 piston cracking, the crack will continue to an area where the stress is not as great and will then stop. Another advantage of 2618 over the high silicon pistons is the ability to keep its shape under extreme pressure and high RPM's.
