Description

Butler has proven results with Comp Cams. These are custom grinds we stock on the shelf, so you don't have to chase down the right custom grind for your Pontiac — these are the same cams we run in our own proven combinations. Ground on a billet core for hydraulic-roller valvetrains.

Spec (HR, std journals): 282/288° advertised, 230/236° @ .050", .510/.521" lift, 112 LSA.

Duration and lift shown with 1.5:1 rockers; actual valve lift increases with higher-ratio rockers (e.g., 1.65:1). Std journals.

Master Kit Contents

Everything for a hydraulic-roller top-end upgrade without guessing:

  • Cam + your choice of hydraulic-roller lifters (Morel 5884R or Johnson 2112-OPR)
  • Pontiac Pro Billet timing set (billet gears, 9-keyway crank sprocket, seamed chain — hone to fit if needed)
  • BPI hydraulic-roller valve springs matched to your cylinder-head type
  • 10° chromoly retainers, matching locks, and valve-stem seals
  • Pushrod-length checking tool

Note: a stock valley pan will not clear the tie-bar on hydraulic-roller lifters — see TPP-0421 or a BFA fabricated valley pan. Spring package is matched to your heads — select your head type on the product.

What Is Lobe-Separation Angle (LSA)?

LSA is the distance in cam degrees between the intake and exhaust lobe centerlines. Tighter LSA gives a rougher idle and less vacuum but more midrange and peak power; wider LSA idles smoother and makes more vacuum with a broader top end.

Recommended install centerline: 110 LSA → 106 · 112 LSA → 108 · 113 LSA → 109 · 114 LSA → 110 (intake lobe centerline).
