The Edelbrock® Pontiac Victor Jr. (PN 29569) is an all-new single-plane intake engineered for high-horsepower Pontiac builds where hood clearance is a concern. It delivers serious top-end performance in a genuinely low-profile package — and it’s the first Edelbrock full-production manifold built with advanced 3D-printed intake core technology. Butler Performance stocks it ready to ship, set up for either carbureted or throttle-body EFI use.
First With 3D-Printed Core Technology
Traditional sand-cast manifolds require a “draft” angle in the runner tooling, which leaves the as-cast runner exits oversized and uneven — the reason so many race intakes need hand port-matching to perform. The Victor Jr.’s 3D-printed cores eliminate that draft entirely, delivering perfectly sized and shaped runner exits straight out of the box. The result is optimized airflow and consistent runner geometry with little to no port matching required before it goes on the engine.
Big Power, Low Profile
Generously sized Victor single-plane runners support engines up to 500 c.i. and power levels approaching 700 HP, while preserving the broad, usable torque curve Pontiacs are known for. Just as important for street/strip cars: the carburetor height and angle match Edelbrock’s popular Performer RPM (PN 7156), so it clears second-generation Trans Am shaker hoods — a fitment that has historically forced enthusiasts to choose between hood clearance and Victor-level airflow. Matched to Butler 340 CNC heads. The larger, higher-flowing 340 port is machined into this manifold and blended into the runner, identical on all eight ports, for an uninterrupted path from plenum to port.
The Butler CNC port-matching process. A port match is only worth doing if it's done right. Out of the box, an intake manifold and a cylinder head are cast separately and never machined to meet each other — leaving a step, offset, or size mismatch at the port opening that trips the incoming air and fuel right at the doorway to the cylinder, exactly where you least want turbulence. For years the only fix was a gasket scribe and a die grinder by hand: slow, inconsistent side to side, impossible to repeat, and easy to over-grind into a reversion step that actually costs you flow. Butler invested in a better way. Every Butler port match is modeled in 3D from the actual head port, programmed into repeatable toolpaths, and cut on our 5-axis Haas UMC machining center using dedicated fixturing that locates every manifold exactly the same way. Each opening is machined to the correct size and shape, then blended smoothly back into the manifold's own casting so the transition is gradual rather than a cliff — identical on all eight ports, cylinder to cylinder.
Why it matters. A machined match is precise, symmetrical, and repeatable, and it's matched to the real port it bolts to — not a generic gasket outline. You get the airflow benefit of a perfect port match without the risk of a hand-grinding mistake that can't be undone.
