The 2-FX steps up to premium aircraft-spec 2618 alloy. 2618 gives up a little thermal stability compared to 4032 and pays it back with far greater toughness and ductility under detonation, heat and sustained high RPM. This is the one to run behind a power adder, a big cam, or anything that lives near the top of the tach.
This kit is machined for a 4.060" bore on a 3.000" stroke Pontiac 301 combination, with a 1.57" compression height and 0.927" pins included. Valve reliefs are CNC cut deeper and larger than OEM for aggressive cylinder head and camshaft packages, and the set ships with the matching DSS 1.2 / 1.2 / 3.0mm ring set.

Why this is sold as a kit: DSS FX-series pistons are cut for a metric 1.2 / 1.2 / 3.0mm ring pack, not the 1/16 or 5/64 rings most Pontiac builders have on the shelf. Butler sells these only as a complete K kit with the correct DSS ring set included — we do not sell the pistons bare, because the wrong ring pack in a metric groove is a ruined short block.
Before you order: confirm your finished bore, chamber volume and deck height. Compression height determines where this piston sits in the hole — on a stroker combination the block deck almost always needs to be cut to get the piston where it belongs. Custom and made-to-order pistons are not returnable.
Forged and machined in the USA by DSS Racing. Sold as a set of eight with rings. Please allow lead time on made-to-order bores.
