Description

Routing spark plug wires is an art form. It takes patience and time to route your wires away from the headers, through separators, and to the distributor cap. Some wire sets fit perfect, but a lot of people want to build their own so they can route them exactly how they see fit. Here at Butler we have been custom routing wires on all of our engines, and now we are offering these fully assembled wire sets to you.

Application

Fits all Pontiac V8 engines, 326 through 455, standard firing order. Because these are routed around the engine rather than over the valve covers, fitment is determined by the engine, not the car — they work in any chassis: GTO, LeMans, Tempest, Firebird, Trans Am, Grand Prix, Catalina, Bonneville, Ventura, or a swap.

Air Conditioning

Yes, they work with A/C. The routing keeps the wires down and around the engine and away from the compressor and bracketry. We run these on our own engines with March and Vintage Air systems all the time, and they clear factory A/C as well.

These will not fit an original small-cap points distributor, which uses spark plug-style male terminals. If you are still running the factory points distributor, order the universal cut-to-fit set (MSD-31193 black / MSD-31199 red) and install the correct terminals, or give us a call and we will build a set for it.

Since ignition coils can be mounted in various locations, we leave the coil wire unassembled so it can be cut to length. It ships ready to assemble with the cutter and crimper included.

Installation

Find top dead center on number 1 cylinder on the compression stroke (passenger front). Point the rotor button toward the engine, slightly toward #1 cylinder. Align the cap as shown in the picture.
